(Miami, FL) May 30TH 2008, - After six successful Sundays, the AT&T North Beach Tropical Music & Sports festival garners praise from the City of Miami Beach, for its positive contributions to the North Beach community. On Sunday, May 18th, AT&T and R. Paniagua Inc were presented with the “Community Enhancement Award”. Drawing crowds by the thousands, the 'AT&T North Beach Tropical Music & Sports Festival' has lured music and sports enthusiasts to 73 & Collins, with the sounds of Latin Music, sporting activities, dance, food and family fun. The free Latin cultural event series offered everything from beach volleyball tropical, tapas, dominoes, a dance contest and more. Some of South Florida’s best volleyball players gathered to participate in world-class beach volleyball tournaments. Each Sunday, a hot new line-up of music stars performed at the Band Shell stage. Performers such as Roberto Torres and Lefty Perez brought thousands of music lovers to the beach area. AT&T has played a pivotal role in the revitalization of North Beach. There is no doubt that the community has witnessed an overwhelming resurgence in foot traffic. Local business owners can attest, as they reaped the benefits from increased patronage. “We are proud to be part of these landmark restoration efforts. These are the type of changes that we strive for. This cultural event series has helped promote tourism and generate economic development within North Beach area,” said Ralph Paniagua, founder and CEO of R. Paniagua Inc. The Band Shell Trust expressed their appreciation to AT&T, R. Paniagua Inc. and the community members who have supported them in their endeavor to revitalize the North Beach community. “It’s an honor to receive the 'Community Enhancement Award on behalf of AT&T. ” added Gardenia Montalvo, Diversity Marketing Manager for AT&T for the Florida area. “The beautification of the once desolate North Beach area, was fully supported by local community officials, law enforcement, sanitation workers and The Band Shell Trust, who all joined forces to ensure the sands were ready for the patrons flocking to the festivities. They should be applauded,” added Paniagua. The series contributed to the re-establishment of North Beach as a world-class destination resort. The beach now features four permanent beach volleyball courts, beach chairs, public bathrooms and ample parking for beach goers. The 'AT&T North Beach Tropical Music and Sports Festival was presented by AT&T and co-sponsored by Dominican Republic Tourism, U.S. Army, American Airlines, Don Q Rum, Spalding, North Beach Band Shell Trust, The City of Miami Beach, Monster Energy Drink, FIU, ZOL 95.FM and MEGA TV. The 'AT&T North Beach Tropical Music & Sports Festival’ contributed to the physical and economical revival in Miami's North Beach.
